Origin of the association

The association “Friends of the Suffolk Regiment” is an association with a 1901 law structure, created in 1989 and made up solely of passionate volunteers.

When it was created, the association set itself the objective of celebrating the heroic acts of our British liberators, in particular the Suffolk regiment which took the Hillman position on the days of June 6-7, 1944. This was done entirely firstly through the maintenance of the memorial bunker and the animation of the D-Day celebrations.

However, it quickly undertook other work to rehabilitate the main other accessible works in order to allow visits.

Today, the notion of duty of memory having extended to victims of both opposing camps, the celebrations organized on June 6 have expanded with the participation of British and German veterans and families of veterans…
